I haven't blogged in a while now, so I apologise (if there's actually anyone who reads this)

But tech has been taking up most of time, although because I usually love what I do, it doesn't bother me a whole lot..

Something that I have been working on this whole semester, is this eco-friendly publication.. At the start of the semester, all the media arts students (designers/photographers/artists/musicians/communications) get put into groups of 4-6 and we have to create a publication/exhibition/PR campaign etc. We chose to do a magazine/journal on sustainability. It's targeted at 15-25year olds, to make simple changes in their lives, and help our environment.

A few weeks ago, I wrote about catching the bus and being environmentally friendly, and this is what has inspired me to think twice about my actions. I've had such a fantastic group, (Lilly, Fozzie and Ruth) who I have honestly become great friends with, and it makes me sad that in a few weeks time, everything will be submitted and I won't get to work with them like I have this semester.

Have a look at a small portion of what we have created. I've written all the content for the magazine and the others have designed it to look as amazing as it does. Enjoy xxx

saw this and thought it was a bit of a hoot!

My inspirations

There are so many amazing journalists/communication people/broadcasters out there who I admire, but one person I really admire is Greer McDonald. She is the social media editor on Stuff.co.nz and is also a blogger and journalist among all that! At the moment, she's in the process of planning her wedding, and blogs about it on stuff.co.nz. I know I'm only young, but I honestly love hearing about everything to do with weddings, especially the photography (which you'll hear more about soon!)

As I slowly figure out what I want to put on this blog, it'll start becoming more about my personal interests, rather than random stuff I feel like talking about. But in the meantime, check out Greer's amazing blogs and websites. Her job is one which I would love to do and hopefully could by the end of 2013 once I'm finished my degree. (Scary thoughts - but oh so exciting)

That bus trip

So in my previous post, I mentioned that I'd taken the bus to tech for the afternoon.. And it was a success getting there. However, friday 3pm came around and while I was in class, I got asked to work and was meant to start at 5. Considering my class didn't finish til 4, I raced to the transport centre to catch my 4.05 bus (well, what I thought was 4.05) home to get ready and drive to work. Turns out, I was looking at the wrong timetable.. Bus didn't arrive til 4.15 and by the time I got to the university (still a wee walk from my house) it was already 4.50pm.

Soo. All in all, the bus ride to tech was very cheap and easy, and if I wasn't running on such a tight schedule in the afternoon, it would have been fab also. There's always next time though, and I highly recommend using public transport as a way to save on parking, petrol, and help our environment even if it's only small.

This is a painting which we have on our wall in our flat, thought It was relevant for this post.
Big Ben and a double decker bus in London, very gorgeous. One day I'll go there.

Anyho, busing it to tech was a fun venture which got me out of my comfort zone a little bit.. And it made me feel eco friendly! Good luck x

Saving the environment..

I'm doing an assignment on sustainability and it has seriously got me thinking about what I can personally do to make our world a little bit better. Whether or not you believe in global warming and everything that comes with it, i'm finally understanding that it's our job to do simple things like recycling now, so that we're not a chaotic environment in 50 years time. First step in my mission to helping out the environment is to catch public transport. I only ever caught buses when I was at school and since then, my little car has been the way to go. But since moving into town and moving into a flat, I'm all about saving money and not having to drive places. Parking at tech costs max $5 a day, but with petrol on top of that, everything starts to add up. Sometimes, the car will have to be used but today I decided the opposite. I only come to tech for three hours in the afternoon today so thought I'd give the bus a try.

So step number 1 in my eco-friendly change: Ride the bus. I will describe the exciting bus trip in my next post, and hopefully by then I would have taken the bus home aswell. Be green xx

Hello world.. I'm a media arts student, who is currently tryna find out what her real passions in life are. At the moment they seem to be writing, photography, music, houses, interior design etc etc; but i'm sure I have other interests waiting to be found! Here's to day one of blogging. Hopefully there will be many more posts here in the near future. But for now,  here's a pretty butterfly in a jar
